Scholarship General Information
The Dr. Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship is a private-sector scholarship administered by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS).
Each year, 3 to 4 scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals from 15 Asia Pacific economies (Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar) to pursue undergraduate studies at local universities in Singapore i.e. National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
The Dr GKS Scholarship Fund was set up by the financial community in Singapore in honor of the former Deputy Prime Minister, who fostered Singapore's economic development and growth as a reputable international financial center.
Scholarship Bond
Successful candidates will be required to work for 3 years upon the completion of their studies in either:
1. An approved company in Singapore; or
2. An approved Singapore-based company in their home country
The deployment of scholarship holders to serve their bonds will be determined by the Dr. GKS Scholarship Fund.

Eligibility Criteria
The Dr GKS Scholarship is open to students who are citizens/passport holders of Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Singapore citizens and PRs are not eligible to apply for the Dr GKS Scholarship.
Applicants should
1. Concurrently apply for admission to NUS, NTU, SMU or SUTD. Most courses (except for specialized courses like Medicine) will be considered. Applicants should adhere to the university's admission deadlines and guidelines;
2. Demonstrate leadership qualities and possess good academic and co-curricular activities (CCA) achievements;
3. Have sat for, or made private arrangements to sit for the SAT.
Award Amount
The scholarship supports a maximum of 4 years of undergraduate study (including Honors). It provides the following:
1. Tuition and other compulsory fees;
2. Airfare (to Singapore and return to home country upon completion of study);
3. Annual maintenance allowance of SGD6500;
4. Hostel allowance based on the institution of study; and
5. Settling-in allowance (one-off expense) of SGD200 upon arrival in Singapore.
The scholarship award will be reviewed annually and is subject to satisfactory performance and academic results.

Application Procedure
1. The 2024 Dr GKS Scholarship application will commence on 15 Nov 2023 and end on 25 Mar 2024 at 23:59, Singapore time (UTC+08:00).
2. Applicants can refer to the ABS website (https://abs.org.sg/dr-goh-keng-swee-scholarship) , and submit their application at https://www.pscgateway.gov.sg/app/gks/account/uidsignin.
3. Shortlisted applicants will be required to take an online personality profiling test in Apr 2024.
4. Applicants selected to attend the final interview will be notified by mid-May. The final interview will take place in end-May 2024 and will be conducted virtually (via Zoom or Microsoft Teams).
Selection Process
The applicants are assessed on the basis of their overall academic and non-academic achievements. If shortlisted, applicants will need to attend one interview in end-May, in Singapore, at your own expense.

The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) is a non-profit organisation that represents the interests of the commercial and investment banking community. As at 31 December 2023, our membership comprised 154 local and foreign banks/institutions and representative offices operating in Singapore
Our roles include:
1. Representing the Commercial and Investment Banking Industry: We voice the interests of our members in Singapore through strategic engagement with our stakeholders – banks, regulators and customers.
2. Upholding the Integrity of Members: We work with members to develop and implement industry code of conduct and guidelines that are in line with international best practices.
3. Building Relationships within the Industry: We build consensus among members with differing opinions and coordinate as well as gather support for projects of mutual benefit.
4. Collaborating with Regional and International Organisations: We partner with these organisations to strengthen members' interests.
