Shakti Dubey, a resident of Sangam City, has secured the top rank in the prestigious Civil Services Examination 2024 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The results were announced on Tuesday, bringing joy to her family and community. Shakti, originally from Someshwar Nagar Colony in Naini, had been residing in Delhi for several years to prepare for the exam. Her journey to success spanned seven years and culminated in her fifth attempt.
Academic Background And Preparatory Journey
An alumna of Allahabad University, Shakti completed her schooling up to Class 12 from St. Mary’s Convent School in Ghoorpur. She earned her BSc in 2013 from AU, followed by an MSc in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 2017. After completing her post-graduation, she moved to Delhi to begin full-time preparation for the civil services.
Her father, Devendra Dubey, a sub-inspector with the Uttar Pradesh Police, shared that Shakti returned to Prayagraj during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued her preparation from home. Once the situation stabilized, she resumed her preparation in Delhi.

When the results were declared, Shakti was overwhelmed to see her name at the top. She shared that it was a surreal moment, and she immediately informed her family. The household in Someshwar Nagar Colony soon turned into a hub of celebrations, with relatives and neighbors pouring in to congratulate the family.

Shakti credits her success to the unwavering support of her parents and teachers. She emphasized how their encouragement kept her motivated through each attempt. “Their constant belief in me pushed me to keep going,” she said in an interview from Delhi.

Known for her academic brilliance, Shakti has consistently performed well in her studies. From topping her classes during school years at St. Mary’s Convent to winning gold medals in both BSc and MSc programs, she has always excelled academically.
Twin Sister’s Unfinished Journey
Interestingly, Shakti's twin sister, Pragati, also appeared for the UPSC exam this year but couldn’t clear it. Their father expressed mixed emotions—immense pride for Shakti and concern for Pragati. However, he affirmed that Pragati remains determined and will continue her preparation with dedication. The family also includes a younger son, Ashutosh, who is currently pursuing an MCA.
