Description
On May 2, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Vizhinjam International Seaport, a major infrastructure milestone located near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This project marks India’s first semi-automated deep-water international container transshipment port, significantly enhancing the nation's maritime trade infrastructure and connectivity.
Developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the port is a joint venture between the Government of Kerala, the Central Government, and Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited (AVPPL). With its strategic coastal location close to international shipping lanes, Vizhinjam is poised to become a key node in global maritime logistics and a vital trade gateway for India.
