The Delhi government has officially raised the minimum wage rates for workers in different categories, with the new structure becoming effective from April 1, 2025. The revision, announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is aimed at easing the financial strain on the working class amid ongoing inflation.
Updated Wage Structure By Skill Category
The revised wages are categorized based on the skill levels of workers:
Unskilled workers will now receive Rupees 18,456 per month, up from Rupees 18,066.
Semi-skilled workers will earn Rupees 20,371, compared to the previous Rupees 19,929.
Skilled workers, including non-matriculates, will see their pay rise to Rupees 22,411 from Rupees 21,917.
Graduates and highly qualified individuals will now get Rupees 24,356 monthly, an increase from Rupees 23,836.

The updated wage rates are intended to help workers keep up with rising living costs in the national capital. Recognizing the challenges posed by inflation, the government has taken this proactive step to ensure fair compensation and economic support for laborers.
Redressal For Wage Disputes
To protect workers' rights, a grievance mechanism has been set up for those receiving less than the revised minimum wages. Workers can lodge complaints with the Joint Labour Commissioner or Deputy Labour Commissioner of their respective districts. These officers, under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, are empowered to address wage-related grievances and ensure justice.
