The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially published the timetable for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) 1 Exam 2025 on its official website. The exam is scheduled for April 13, 2025, and will be conducted in three shifts.
In the first shift, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, candidates will appear for the English paper. The second shift, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, is reserved for the General Knowledge paper. The third and final shift, scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, will be for the Elementary Mathematics paper.
CDS 1 Exam Pattern And Admission Details
The UPSC CDS examination serves as a gateway for admissions into the following prestigious institutions:
Indian Military Academy (IMA)
Indian Naval Academy (INA)
Air Force Academy (AFA)
Officers’ Training Academy (OTA)
This year, the recruitment drive is being conducted for 457 available posts.
Candidates aiming for IMA, INA, and AFA are required to appear for all three papers - English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. However, aspirants applying for OTA will only have to attempt the English and General Knowledge papers.
All papers will consist of objective-type (multiple-choice) questions. Notably, the General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics papers will be provided in both Hindi and English. The metric system will be used wherever applicable.
Important Guidelines For CDS 1 Exam 2025
Scribe Facility: Candidates are not allowed to use a scribe during the examination.
Calculators: The use of calculators is strictly prohibited.
Paper Standards: The Elementary Mathematics paper will be based on the Matriculation (Class 10) level. The English and General Knowledge papers will be of a standard suitable for graduates of recognized Indian universities.
The English paper will evaluate the candidates’ comprehension and practical usage of the language. The General Knowledge paper will include questions on current affairs, everyday science, history of India, and geography, designed to assess the general awareness of an educated individual.
