The Gujarat government recently introduced the G-SAFAL initiative, aimed at uplifting Antyodaya families by promoting economic self-sufficiency and empowering women. This program targets 50,000 families across 10 districts, providing essential resources to break the poverty cycle.
About G-SAFAL
G-SAFAL stands for the Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods. Managed by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited, the initiative provides comprehensive support, including livelihood creation, financial inclusion, and social development.
Core Components Of Initiative
The G-SAFAL program is built around four key pillars:
Social Security - This pillar ensures Antyodaya families can access government welfare programs, enhancing their social security.
Livelihood Creation - Grants are given to help families establish multiple sources of income, contributing to their financial stability.
Financial Inclusion - The program connects families to banking services, savings schemes, and credit facilities, ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
Social Development and Empowerment - Life skills training and active participation in self-help groups are encouraged, fostering community support and personal empowerment.
Focus On Women Empowerment
A significant aspect of G-SAFAL is its emphasis on empowering women. Field coaches work closely with families to provide specialized training, helping women acquire skills and financial independence.
Implementation Approach
The scheme identifies the most vulnerable families among eligible Antyodaya Anna Yojana cardholders, aiming to create multiple income streams for these families to ensure long-term financial security. Each family is expected to have at least two sources of income.

G-SAFAL leverages technology with a digital dashboard that tracks real-time progress, fund distribution, and household development indicators.
Targeted Districts
The program is being implemented in 10 districts in Gujarat: Banaskantha, Patan, Kutch, Surendranagar, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, Dahod, Narmada, Tapi, and Dang.
