About F11 Bacteria
F11 (Labrys portucalensis) is an aerobic bacterium belonging to the Xanthobacteraceae family. It thrives in polluted environments, where it utilizes contaminants as a source of energy. Initially isolated from contaminated industrial soil in Portugal, F11 has shown the ability to degrade at least three types of PFAS compounds, including some of their toxic byproducts.
