New Delhi, The registration process for entry-level admissions in private schools in Delhi under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories will begin on February 2, 2025. The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a circular on January 3, detailing the admission guidelines for nursery, kindergarten, and Class 1 for these categories in private unaided recognized schools.
The online application process will start on February 3, with the deadline for submission set for February 19, 2025. The first round of the computerized draw of lots to select students will be held on March 3, 2025.
Admission Guidelines
For EWS and DG categories, the age limit as of March 31 is - Nursery: 3 to 5 years, Kindergarten (KG): 4 to 6 years, Class 1: 5 to 7 years
For CWSN (Children with Special Needs), the age limits are more flexible - Nursery: 3 to 7 years, Kindergarten (KG): 4 to 8 years, Class 1: 5 to 9 years
Eligibility Criteria
The EWS category applies to children from families with an annual income of less than Rupees 5 lakh. Applicants must provide an income certificate from the Delhi Revenue Department. Families with Below Poverty Line (BPL) or Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards are also eligible.
The DG category includes children from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), orphans, transgender children, and children affected by HIV.
Children with disabilities must provide a government-issued disability certificate, but no income certificate is required for them.
