Bharti Airtel has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first private telecom operator to extend mobile services to seven border villages in Jammu and Kashmir. This development enhances connectivity in remote areas and supports the government's Vibrant Village Programme, which focuses on improving infrastructure in border regions.

Locations Benefiting From Service

The mobile services are now available in the villages of Kachhal, Balbir, Razdan Pass, Taya Top, Ustad, Kathi, and Cheema. These villages are located in the Keran, Machhal, Tangdhar, Gurez, and Uri valley areas. The introduction of mobile services is a major step forward in connecting these isolated communities to the broader national network.

Infrastructure Development

To make this connectivity possible, Airtel has set up 15 mobile towers across these regions. The towers play a critical role in improving communication for local residents and military personnel stationed along the Line of Control (LoC). The enhanced network will not only support civilian needs but also bolster the operational effectiveness of the military, ensuring seamless communication in strategically sensitive areas.

Collaboration With Indian Army

Airtel has partnered with the Indian Army to further enhance telecom services in remote areas and military bases. This collaboration is designed to ensure that communication remains reliable in critical and strategic locations, improving both civilian connectivity and military coordination.

Expanding Connectivity In Challenging Areas

Beyond the border villages, Airtel has also made significant strides in providing telecom services in challenging terrains, including the Galwan River region and Daulat Beg Oldie India’s northernmost military post. These efforts reflect Airtel’s commitment to expanding its network in hard-to-reach areas.

In line with these developments, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced plans to establish comprehensive telecom connectivity across the country by June 2025, aiming to bridge the communication gap in underserved areas and foster greater development and accessibility nationwide.
