The Chennai-Vladivostok Sea Route, or EMC, offers a major shortcut for goods moving between India and Russia. It reduces transit time by up to 16 days and shortens the journey by 40%, making it a highly efficient trade route. Traditionally, the Mumbai-to-St. Petersburg route, spanning 8,675 nautical miles (16,066 km), took over 40 days for cargo to arrive. In contrast, the Chennai-Vladivostok route covers only 5,647 nautical miles (10,458 km) and takes just 24 days, saving around 5,608 km in distance.

The EMC passes through essential maritime regions such as the Sea of Japan, East China Sea, South China Sea, the Malacca Straits, the Andaman Sea, and the Bay of Bengal. Key ports along the route include Dalian, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dhaka, Colombo, and Chennai.
