Description

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, announced the eligibility requirements for the JEE Advanced 2025 examination. Eligibility has been provided for Indian and foreign nationals appearing in the JEE Advanced exam in 2025. 

The JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria have been separated into five categories. These include JEE Main 2025 performance, age limit, number of attempts, class 12 or equivalent exam results, and earlier admission to IITs. All details are available on the official website.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria

According to the eligibility criteria, candidates must be among the top 250,000 successful candidates from all categories in BE/BTech paper 1 of JEE Main 2025. The category-wise percentage of students are -

  • GEN-EWS - 10%

  • OBC-NCL - 27%

  • SC - 15%

  • ST - 7.5%

The remaining 40.5% is open to all

Criterion A2: Age Limit

Candidates should be born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, and PwD applicants are given a five-year age relaxation, which means they must have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

Criteria A3: The Number Of Attempts

A candidate may take JEE (Advanced) up to three times in three consecutive years.

Criteria A4: Appearance In Class 12

  • Candidates must have taken the class 12 or equivalent exams for the first time in 2023, 2024, or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as obligatory subjects.

  • Candidates who appeared in the class 12 or equivalent test in 2025 or earlier are ineligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2025.

  • If the examination board declares the class 12 results for 2021-22 on or after September 21, 22, a candidate who appear in the class 12 exam in 2022 is eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2025.

  • If the exam board declares the results for 2021-22 before September 21, 2022, but a specific individual's result is delayed, the candidate will be ineligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2025.

Criterion A5: Admission To IITs. Previously

  • Candidates applying should not have previously been admitted to an IIT under any academic programme stated in the JoSAA Business Rules of 2024 or earlier, regardless of whether the candidate finished the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting online or at the reporting center. 

  • Candidates whose admissions to IITs were cancelled after they enrolled are likewise ineligible to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.

  • Candidates admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 can participate in JEE Advanced 2025.

  • Candidates who were assigned a seat in an IIT through JoSAA but did not report or revoke their admission before the final round are eligible to compete for JEE Advanced 2025. 

  • Candidates must also meet the standards outlined in Criterion A1 to A4.
