India and France were re-elected as president and co-president of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), respectively, at the seventh assembly in New Delhi. On the first day of the assembly, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi stated that India would retain the presidency till 2026.

ISA Membership And Achievements
The ISA includes 120 member and signatory countries.
It has collected resources and facilitated the deployment of solar projects, especially in LDCs and SIDS.
The alliance has completed 21 of 27 demonstration projects.
New Director General
Ashish Khanna, a World Bank energy specialist, has been appointed as the next Director General of ISA.
Khanna has over 26 years of expertise in energy sector development in various places, including South Asia, West Asia, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Khanna's Role And Vision
He will take over the ISA in March 2025, after Ajay Mathur, who has managed it since 2021.
Khanna intends to enhance the alliance's connections and seek worldwide collaboration.
Future Initiatives
The assembly will discuss budgets and work plans for the future year.
The discussions will center on the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, which provides payments for 10-35% of solar project expenses in LDCs and SIDS.
