Taiwan received its first supply of 100 land-based Harpoon anti-ship missile systems from the United States, which arrived on September 27 at Kaohsiung Port. This is a significant step towards boosting Taiwan's military, particularly during periods of regional tension.

Delivery Timeline
The delivery will occur in two phases-
Phase One - Phase One is expected to be completed by 2026, with 128 missiles supplied.
Phase Two - Phase Two is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
This shipment will strengthen Taiwan's defences against maritime threats while also highlighting the US's continuous assistance, which is important to the safety of the region.
Information About The Harpoon Anti-Ship Missile System
McDonnell Douglas created the Harpoon missile system in the 1970s; it may be launched from ships, submarines, or aeroplanes. It has a range of more than 60 nautical miles and employs radar to pinpoint its targets.
