Indian government has initiated Operation Sadbhav to give humanitarian relief and support to the nations affected by Typhoon Yagi. This will express solidarity with storm-hit nations, as India sends aid to Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos.
About Operation Sadbhav
India has offered support to the Government of Vietnam in providing relief to the affected populations in northern Vietnam hit by the natural calamity.
A special airplane delivered 35 tons of humanitarian aid to Vietnam today, including water purifying products, water containers, blankets, cooking equipment, and solar lighting.
India's Position As Big Brother And Act East Policy
The humanitarian assistance provided to Vietnam demonstrates the two nations' long-standing strong relationship, as evidenced by our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed sympathy and support to Vietnam's Prime Minister, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, soon after the typhoon struck.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also expressed condolences to Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Bui Thanh Son.
India has been among the first to provide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) to affected countries. Operation Sadbhav is part of India's wider endeavor to contribute to HADR in the ASEAN area, along with its long-standing 'Act East Policy'.
India's Aid Relief Assistance
India has always stood by its neighbors and assisted them with the "Neighborhood First Policy" through various means.
Also assisted flood-affected nations, earthquake-affected countries, and humanitarian causes by delivering countless aid relief to those countries.
For example, Operation Dost, Covid vaccination supply to least developed and developed nations, and support to Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, among others.
