In an effort to combat young unemployment, the Maharashtra government has launched the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana (Chief Minister youth Work Training Scheme). It seeks to give valuable internship opportunities for young people, equipping them with critical skills and increasing their employability in a competitive labor market.
Provision For Rupees 5,500 Crore
The government has allocated Rupees 5,500 crore for the initiative. Candidates aged 18 to 35 years who live in Maharashtra are eligible to apply under the initiative. The minimum educational qualifications range from a 12th grade pass to a postgraduate degree, guaranteeing that a diverse range of young people can benefit from practical training opportunities. Industries and establishments in Maharashtra that have registered with the Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation are also urged to participate.
Key Features Of The Scheme
The scheme's key characteristics include a six-month internship term and a compensation structure tailored to trainees' educational backgrounds. Interns will receive monthly stipends via Direct Benefit Transfer. The stipend is Rupees 6,000 for 12th pass, Rupees 8,000 for ITI/Diploma, and Rupees 10,000 for degree/post graduate.
Eligibility To Participate
Both government and private sector industries are able to join, as long as they meet certain criteria, such as EPF, ESIC, GST, DPIT, and Udyog Aadhar registration and have been in operation for at least three years.
Empower youngsters And Develop Entrepreneurship
According to the State government, the plan is expected to not only provide youth with practical skills, but also to stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation across several industries in Maharashtra. "This initiative reflects the government's commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce capable of effectively contributing to the state's economic growth and development," a government statement said.
