The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) will have its 57th convocation on June 29. This year, an estimated 2,332 students will graduate.
The graduating students include 226 PhDs, 457 MTechs, and 842 BTechs. The ceremony will also include 165 students from MSc (2-year), 36 from MBA, 12 from MTech-PhD (joint degree), 1 from MDes (joint degree), 17 from MDes, 77 from MS (by research), 40 from PGPEX-VLFM, 26 from double major, 89 from dual degree, 14 from MS-PD (MS part of the Dual Degree), 125 from BS, and 205 from eMasters degree programs.
The IIT Kanpur convocation ceremony will be held in two sessions, with the first session taking place in IITK's Main Auditorium, which has a capacity of 1,250, and rewarding the top achievers. The second session will feature individual departments conferring degrees on students from various Lecture Halls, led by the Chairpersons of the Senate Post-Graduate Committee (SPGC) and Senate Under-Graduate Committee (SUGC).
The ceremony will be held in two sessions so that all graduating students can celebrate their academic achievements. According to an IIT Kanpur statement, this diversified collection of graduates exemplifies IITK's comprehensive academic offerings and aligns with the institution's aim to promoting a multidisciplinary academic environment.
The ceremony will follow the IIT Kanpur administration's dress code recommendation, with male students wearing a cream-colored kurta with white pajamas and female students wearing a cream-colored kurta with white churidar or leggings, as well as formal footwear.
The President of Oregon State University (OSU), Professor Jayathi Y Murthy, an IITK graduate, will be the Chief Guest during the convocation event. The ceremony will be presided over by Dr K Radhakrishnan, Chairperson of IIT Kanpur's Board of Governors (BoG), and Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur.
