IRDAI approved Keki Mistry's appointment as Chairman of HDFC Life

Description

Following Deepak Parekh's departure as Chairman, HDFC Life Insurance nominated Keki Mistry to fill the role. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) then approved Mistry's nomination.

On May 7, 2024, the IRDAI officially confirmed Keki Mistry's appointment as Chairman of HDFC Life. This support came after the insurer's board unanimously chose Mistry for the position, which became effective immediately upon regulatory approval.

Professional Background

Keki Mistry, a Chartered Accountant and Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, was previously the Vice Chairman and CEO of HDFC Limited. After HDFC merged with HDFC Bank, Mistry became a Non-Executive Director on the HDFC Bank Board. He also has directorships in a number of other well-known companies.

Mistry's industry involvement includes serving on the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) Primary Market Advisory Committee (PMAC). He also serves on SEBI's Expert Committee, which was designed to streamline regulatory rules, and chairs Working Group 1.
