Description
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) today announced the establishment of a Certificate Courses for Accountants of Panchayats and Municipal Bodies course in collaboration with the Comptroller and Auditor General's office.
Interested candidates can register for the course using a dedicated platform, lba.icaiarf.org.in, which is open all year. The manner of instruction is online, which gives flexibility by allowing learners to attend classes from anywhere at any time.
Overall, ICAI has launched four online courses-
Certificate Course for Accountants of Panchayats (Level 1 for Gram Panchayats and Level 2 for Zilla & Block Panchayats)
Certificate Course for Accountants of Municipal Bodies (Level 1 for Town Panchayats and Level 2 for Municipal Corporations & Municipalities).
Candidates can only enroll in one course at a time. These classes are open to students of all streams who have completed class 12, aged 18 and over, for a fee of Rs 590.
The courses are available in ten languages: Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil, Odiya, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Kannada, and Telugu. Examinations are done offline.
These courses are being organized by the Board for Local Bodies Accountants Certification (BLoAC), which is affiliated with the ICAI Accounting Research Foundation (ICAI ARF). The ICAI's Committee on Public and Government Financial Management (CPGFM) contributes to the production of course materials.
The list of qualified candidates will be made public so that panchayats and municipal bodies can use it to prepare accounts and ensure timely audits, as required by the XVth Finance Commission's recommendations.
