Description
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has produced a new kamikaze drone that resembles Russia's Lancet drone. This drone, which has yet to be named publicly, is geared for targeted assaults similar to those seen in the Ukraine conflict.
Specifications
The Iranian drone, similar to the Lancet, has flying periods of 30 to 60 minutes and can transport payloads weighing 3 to 6 kg, covering distances of up to 40 kilometers. It has electro-optical equipment and a built-in warhead, making it ideal for countering ambushes.
Iran’s Drone Development
In recent years, the IRGC has made significant investments in weapons research, most notably creating the Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones used by Russian forces in Ukraine. The unveiling coincided with a freight aircraft from Iran to Russia carrying drone components.
Response To Sanctions
Iran condemned the US, UK, and Canadian sanctions aimed against Iran's drone production and exports. Iranian authorities, including Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Nasser Kanaani, reaffirmed their country's right to defend itself while condemning perceived hostile activities, citing recent strikes on Iranian targets.
