Dr Joseph Emmanuel, former CBSE director of Academics, has been appointed as the chief executive and secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), effective May 1, 2024, according to a letter from CISCE chairman G Immanuel to all heads of CISCE affiliated schools across India.

Joseph Emmanuel succeeded Gerry Arathoon, the CISCE's former chief executive and secretary, who retired in September last year after 21 years with the organization.

Gerry Arathoon has held the role since 2012. Joseph has over 30 years of expertise in education and has overseen the implementation of National Education Policy 2020 in CBSE schools across India.
