Description
The Purple Cap is given to the bowler who gets the most wickets during a Women's Premier League (WPL) season. The second edition of the WPL will begin on February 23, with the final planned for March 17. The matches will take place in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Hayley Matthews of the West Indies currently holds the Purple Cap as the Mumbai Indians enter their second season, having taken 16 wickets in 10 matches the previous season. Sophie Ecclestone of UP Warriorz, England, placed second, level with Matthews on 16 wickets but with a higher strike rate. Amelia Kerr, an all-rounder from New Zealand and Matthews' Mumbai Indians partner, finished third with 15 wickets.
