IIT Guwahati has teamed up with EduRade, a drone pilot training school, to establish India's largest Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO). The primary goal of this RPTO is to promote the development of drone technology in India.
IIT Guwahati claims to be India's largest drone pilot training organisation, spanning 18 acres and capable of flying nine medium-class drones simultaneously.

Initially, the RPTO will offer a DGCA-Certified medium class drone pilot training course tailored to the needs of youth in the North East and other parts of India. It will also cater specifically to women from self-help groups (SHGs) engaged in agriculture, as identified by the Indian government's Namo Drone Didi Yojna.
After completing the course, students will receive a Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. This certification allows them to legally operate drones and pursue a career as certified drone pilots.
Furthermore, the IITG-RPTO intends to launch a diverse range of drone-based courses tailored to various skill levels and interests, ensuring comprehensive education and upskilling opportunities for individuals.
