As the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya prepares for its Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ritual, it has received two extraordinary offerings: the world's largest lock (weighing 400 kg) and a massive 1,265 kilogram laddoo Prasad.
The World's Largest Lock
Satya Prakash Sharma, a 65-year-old locksmith from Aligarh, created the lock, which is a wonderful work of art. The lock, which measures ten feet in length and four and a half feet in width, took six months to construct. Sharma, who just died, had indicated his desire for this lock to be donated to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. His wife Rukmini Sharma contributed to its design, which represents Aligarh's famed lock industry. The lock, which is constructed of iron and includes two keys, exhibits the city's traditional crafts on an unprecedented scale.
The 1,265-Kilogram Laddoo Prasad
Nagabhushanam Reddy, owner of Sri Ram Catering Services in Hyderabad, created the enormous laddoo Prasad with extraordinary devotion. Reddy, inspired by his beliefs, promised to make 1 kilogram of laddoo for each day of his life as a symbol of dedication. This massive laddoo was prepared over three days by 25 men who worked tirelessly. The laddoo was brought to Ayodhya in a refrigerated glass case, which guaranteed its preservation for up to a month.
