Description

The Assam government has established the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan (MMUA), a financial support plan designed to encourage rural women entrepreneurs. The program is intended to provide financial aid to women who want to start their own businesses without the support of Self-Help Groups. This project establishes special circumstances, with a particular emphasis on the number of eligible children for beneficiaries.

Objectives Of The MMUA Scheme

The MMUA plan is intended to aid rural women who are members of self-help groups. The program intends to develop participants into "Rural Micro Entrepreneurs" with an annual income target of  Rupees1 lakh per member.

Eligibility Criteria: Balancing Family Planning And Entrepreneurship

To be eligible for the stipend, women from the general and other backward caste (OBC) groups must have no more than three children. Women from the Moran, Muttock, and tea-tribe communities, on the other hand, are granted special exemptions if they have four or fewer children. Women from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) categories are only allowed to have four children under the eligibility criterion.

Child Limitations

  • General and OBC women: only eligible for three children.

  • ST and SC: The maximum benefit is for up to four children.

  • Morans, Motoks, and 'Tea Tribes': A maximum of four children.

Additional Conditions For Beneficiaries

Aside from the child limitations, beneficiaries must meet two additional conditions-

  • Girls' Education If the recipients have daughters, they must attend school. For girls who are not currently attending school, a signed commitment to future attendance is required.

  • Tree Plantation Campaign Beneficiaries must ensure that the trees planted under the government's tree plantation effort, Amrit Brikshya Andolan, thrive.

Phase 1: Seed Funding For Entrepreneurial Dreams

During the first year of the MMUA, all qualifying applicants would get a Rupees 10,000 award. This initial money is designed to help with the launch of various company endeavors selected from a curated list of 145 business proposals supplied by the government. This plan has received extraordinary financial allocation of Rupees 3,900 crore in the state's yearly budget, making it the largest initiative of its sort in Assam.

Phase 2: Strengthening Financial Support

In the second year of the MMUA, successful applicants will get a bank loan of Rupees 12,500, along with an equivalent grant from the state government. The disbursement of funding in the second year will be based on a thorough examination of the preceding year's use of the grant amount. This assures accountability and prudent use of the funds granted.
