Description
According to a new study, 37 of the 42 African raptor species studied have witnessed major population losses of up to 88% in the last 40 years. Out of these, 29 species, or 69%, have suffered decreases across three generations, qualifying them as globally threatened under IUCN endangerment criteria.

Six raptor species that are endemic or near-endemic to Africa have already exceeded the minimum threshold for habitat degradation and population decline, indicating a higher danger of extinction.
