The government of Assam is preparing for the fifth edition of 'Gunotsav 2024,' a comprehensive state-wide examination aimed at evaluating the performance of around 40 lakh students from government schools. The program, which will run from January 3 to February 8, 2024, is expected to play a critical role in boosting education quality and learning outcomes in the state.
Revealing The Details
During a press conference in Dibrugarh, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu recently revealed the specifics of this year's grading method. The examination will encompass a broad network of 43,498 government schools distributed over 35 districts, totaling 39,63,542 students.
Stakeholder Involvement
'Gunotsav' places a premium on active participation from all stakeholders, including teachers, students, administrators, and local communities. This comprehensive participation is expected to encourage accountability and contribute to an overall improvement in Assam's educational quality.
Three Assessment Phases
The evaluation process will be divided into three stages. The first phase, which will take place from January 3 to 6, will encompass 12 districts. The second part, which runs from January 9 to 12, will include 13 districts, and the last phase, which runs from February 5 to 8, will include the remaining ten. Pegu underlined that 'Gunotsav 2024' has two goals: it identifies learning gaps in each kid and it ensures quality education with grade-specific outcomes.
Comprehensive Assessment
The evaluation will not just look at individual student achievement but will also look at schools across multiple dimensions. These include academic and co-curricular features, infrastructure availability and utilization, and community involvement.
External Evaluators Are Being Deployed
A large number of 18,098 external assessors will be deployed throughout Assam to help with the assessment process. The chief minister, MLAs, the chief secretary, and college teachers will be among the members of this eclectic group. These outside evaluators will visit schools and contribute a diverse viewpoint to the evaluation process.
Gunotsav Evolution
'Gunotsav' debuted in 2017, and the 2024 edition will be the fifth cycle of this comprehensive exercise, which will span all districts in Assam. The state's sustained commitment to the effort demonstrates the state's commitment to continuously improving education quality and providing a robust learning environment for its students.
