Description
The Indian Institutes of Technology at Roorkee and Bhilai, IIT Roorkee and IIT Bhilai, have signed an MoU to boost their academic and research partnership. This strategic partnership aims to preserve and promote Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) while also contributing to socioeconomic development in tribal areas through research on traditional medicinal plants, tribal culture studies, tribal agricultural practices, and financial literacy among tribal populations.
Professor K K Pant, Director IIT Roorkee, and Professor Rajiv Prakash, Director IIT Bhilai, signed the Memorandum of Understanding at IIT Bhilai.
According to an institution statement, the collaboration constitutes a crucial step toward developing awareness among the youth about Indian culture and heritage, harmonizing with the Government of India's ambitious vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Furthermore, the institutes stated that the collaboration will actively support the objectives defined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems into the education system.
IKS contains "Knowledge of India" from ancient India and its contributions to current India, as well as its accomplishments and problems, as well as a strong grasp of India's future goals in education, health, and the environment, among other things. This engagement is also in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Ek Bharath Shreshtha Bharat.
Both institutions will exchange knowledge and promote Indian culture, Indian knowledge systems, as well as develop projects on sustainable and rural development, ancient Indian science, fintech, health science, agriculture, artificial intelligence, complementary and alternative medicine, life management, environment, renewable energy, food processing, tourism management, languages, peace and conciliation, music, humanities, and common interest as part of the agreement.
They have also agreed to organize seminars, symposiums, conferences, workshops, and short-term training programs collaboratively.
