Description

Due to the Hindu holiday of Bala Chaturdashi, the sale and consumption of meat, alcohol, and other intoxicants has been limited near the Pashupatinath Temple region.

  • The Pashupatinath Temple is located in Nepal.

  • It's a Hindu temple dedicated to Pashupati, a manifestation of Shiva.

  • It is situated on the banks of the Bagmati River on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal.

  • The temple was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.

Features

  • There are 518 temples, buildings, and structures in the temple complex.

  • The main temple is built in the manner of a Nepalese pagoda, with a tiered roof and plinth.

  • It is a two-story building with a gold-plated roof.

  • The Pashupatinath idol is housed in two internal halls of the temple.

  • It's a cube with four main entrances that are all covered in silver sheets.

  • The massive golden figure of Nandi, Shiva's bull, is one of the temple's most impressive ornaments.

About Pagoda

  • A pagoda is a multistory, tower-like structure built of stone, brick, or wood that is commonly connected with a Buddhist temple complex and is found in China, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Vietnam, and other Asian countries.

  • The stupa, a hemispherical, domed, commemorative monument first built in ancient India, inspired the pagoda structure.

  • Pagodas come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are built around a central staircase.

  • A pagoda is made up of three parts: a foundation, a body, and a top, which is commonly in the shape of a small pagoda.
