Description
A few schools will be closed on December 6 in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's death anniversary, which is being observed as a local holiday in Mumbai. In its announcement, the state administration stated that the vacation will apply to all government and semi-government offices in the city and suburbs.
This is the third local holiday declared by the Maharashtra state government, following Anant Chaturdashi in 1996 and Dahi Handi in 2007. Dr. BR Ambedkar's death anniversary is known as Mahaparinirvana Divas.
A school holiday has been declared for the surrounding communities. However, no specific direction has been issued, and schools in Dadar's Shivaji Park and a few outlying districts will remain closed due to the large throng expected at Chaitya Bhoomi in Shivaji Park.
Tamil Nadu School Holiday
Schools in areas of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu, will be closed on December 6, 2023, due to Cyclone Michaung. Schools in the state have been closed for many days due to the cyclone, flooding, and waterlogging. Students and parents are encouraged to contact the school administration for further information.
