ISRO has launched a robotics challenge for those interested in space missions, with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh

ISRO's U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) has asked young people to submit ideas and concepts for robotic rovers for future expeditions to the moon and other planetary bodies. The 'ISRO Robotics Challenge-URSC 2024 (IRoC-U 2024)' program seeks to create unique chances for academics and industry in technology development activities, as well as to provide a larger possibility for students to offer creative ideas in the field of space robotics.

The campaign, with the tagline 'Let's construct a space robot,' was launched on November 8, 2023. Registration for the challenge will begin on November 20 and end on December 15, 2023.

The challenge's goals include developing a standardized platform for investigating the field of space robotics. It also includes improving the students' communication, teamwork, inquiry, problem solving, and flexibility skills, which will help them in their academic and professional careers. The endeavor entails students and ISRO working together to develop future space robotics  technologies .

The program will assist students in identifying, formulating, and solving complex engineering issues by utilizing principles of mathematics, science, and engineering. It will teach students how to use engineering design to create solutions that satisfy specific needs, as well as how to successfully communicate, interact with a team, give inclusive leadership, set goals, organize tasks, and fulfill targets.

The first three teams will be awarded based on the jury's appraisal and the teams' fair play attitude. The top prize is for Rupees 5 lakh, the second prize is at Rupees 3 lakh, and the third prize is worth Rupees 2 lakh.  Two competitors will receive a consolation reward of 1 lakh each. The ISRO Robotics Challenge Day will take place on August 5-6, 2024.
