Description
The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a gazetted notification banning Tripura-based insurgent organisations, the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), as well as its allied organizations, from operating in the state for a period of five years. The ban was issued because they were involved in subversive activities and posed a threat to India's sovereignty and integrity.
Objectives of the NLFT and the ATTF
The notification states that the NLFT and the ATTF aim to create an independent nation by supporting the secession of Tripura from India through armed struggle.
They are also alleged to incite tribal people of Tripura to support their cause and take part in violent activities.
Subversive and Violent Activities
The Interior Ministry claims that these rebels have been actively involved in subversive and violent activities that undermine the government's authority and spread fear and terror among the population.
These activities are considered harmful to the sovereignty and integrity of India.
Action of Government
The ban on NLFT and ATTF is seen as a measure to curb their activities and maintain law and order in the region. The government took this action based on its assessment of the actions of the groups and their impact on the security and stability of Tripura and the nation as a whole.
