Description
Rajasthan is preparing to launch its first heritage train service, the Valley Queen Heritage Train, which will run from Marwar Junction to Khamlighat beginning October 5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched this one-of-a-kind rail service from Jodhpur.
Unique Historic Train
The Valley Queen Heritage Train is Rajasthan's only heritage train service.
It imitates the design of a 150-year-old steam engine, offering passengers a nostalgic experience.
Ticket Times and Prices
The train will run four days a week.
Tickets for the heritage train cost Rs 2,000 per person.
The train departs from Marwar Junction at 8:30 am and reaches Khamlighat at 11 am via Phulad and Goram Ghat railway stations. The train makes short stops of 10-15 minutes at each station.
After a three and a half hour stop at Kamli Ghat, the boat departs at 3pm and returns to Marwar Junction at 5:40pm on the same day.
Picturesque Itinerary
The Valley Queen Heritage Train offers a scenic journey, passing through lush green valleys and hills, showcasing rare flora and fauna.
The route includes two tunnels that are almost a century old and 172 small and large bridges that cross the waterways.
Historical Importance
The Marwar Junction-Mavli Junction railway line, where the Valley Queen Heritage Train runs, has historical significance.
It was founded before independence with contributions from two different royal families.
The railway line from Mavli Junction to Phulad was built by the Maharaja of Mewar (Udaipur), while the railway line from Marwar Junction to Phulad was built by the Maharaja of Marwar (Jodhpur).
Before independence, separate trains of royal families ran on this platform, with passengers changing at Phulad.
