The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had released the official notification regarding the Combined Defense Services (CDS II) 2023 exam on its official website on May 17, 2023.
It is a national level competitive exam which will be conducted by UPSC on 3rd September 2023. CDS exam is conducted twice a year to recruit candidates to Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), and Air Force Academy (AFA).
Union Public Service Commission has provided One Time Registration (OTR) platform for candidates to fill application form for any examination under UPSC. One time registration needs to be done only once and can be filled anytime in a year. Candidates are allowed to make changes in the OTR within 7 days of registration.
Steps To Register For OTR
Visit the official website of UPSC.
Click on the New Registration tab.
Fill your details - Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Mobile Number, Email ID, etc.
Input the captcha.
Click on the Submit button.
OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.
Login to your account again and reset your password.
Thereafter, login to the account again and go to the CDS II application link.
Steps To Register For CDS II Application Form
Visit the official website for application.
Log in to your registered account.
Click on CDS II exam link.
Fill the asked details.
Uploadphotograph, signature and photo identity Card (ID).
Pay the application fee for CDS II Exam.
Select the test center for CDS II.
Finally, submit the application form.
Registration confirmation message will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality:
To be eligible for the CDS II 2023 exam, a candidate must be unmarried, and must fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned below:
i. A citizen of India, or
II. A citizen of Bhutan, or
iii. A citizen of Nepal, or
iv. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
v. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia) or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note-
A candidate relating to points (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v) must be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Certificate of eligibility is also required for Gorkha candidates in Nepal.
Divorcee / widower candidates cannot be treated as unmarried men for the purpose of their admission to IMA / INA / AFA / OTA, Chennai courses and are therefore not eligible for these courses.
Educational Qualification:
For IMA & Officers Training Academy - Candidate must possess Bachelor's degree (any discipline) from a recognized University or equivalent.
For Indian Naval Academy - The candidate must be a graduate in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
For Air Force Academy- Candidate must have Bachelor's degree (with Physics and Maths at 10+2 level) or Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized University.
Age Range:
Indian Military Academy (Unmarried male candidates only) – 18 to 24 years
Indian Naval Academy (Unmarried male candidates only) – 18 to 24 years
Air Force Academy (Unmarried Men and Women) - 20 to 24 years (however, married status is acceptable if above 25 years of age)
Officers Training Academy (SSC - Men) (Unmarried male candidates only) - 18 to 25 years
Officers Training Academy (SSC - Women) (Unmarried female candidates only) - 18 to 25 years
Physical Standards For Male And Female Candidates
Candidates applying for CDS Recruitment must be physically fit as per the Standard Physical Guidelines. Many candidates get rejected on medical grounds. Selection Process Of CDS II Exam 2023
The recruitment of AFA, IMA, INA and Officers Training Academy posts will be conducted on the basis of:
Written Exam
SSB (Services Selection Board) Interview/ Personality Test
Document Verification
Medical Examination
Exam Pattern
Each paper will have multiple-choice questions.
The question paper of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be in Hindi as well as in English.
1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answer.
Duration of each test will be 2 hours.
