UPSC IAS PRELIMS 2022 EXAM ANALYSIS (5 JUNE 2022)

IAS (UPSC CSE) Prelims, popularly known as UPSC Prelims 2022, was conducted on June 5, 2022. The UPSC Prelims 2022 exam was conducted in two shifts for the two papers. The GS Paper 1 was held between 09:30 AM-11:30 AM and includes 100 questions in total. Whereas, the GS Paper 2 (CSAT) is conducted from 02:30 PM - 04:30 PM and comprised 80 questions.Let us have a look at the individual sections and the type of questions asked in the exam. This analysis will help all the candidates who have appeared in the exam or all those aspirants who are going to appear for the exam in the future.

General Studies Paper I

Here is the topic-wise weightage of the UPSC Prelims Exam 2022. Check the number of questions asked and difficulty level in the UPSC Prelims Paper I :

1. Most of the questions asked were from Polity, Environment and Ecology, and Economics.
2. Questions asked were also based on the government Apps for citizen welfare.
3. Questions on environmental policies were also asked under Environment & Ecology.

UPSC IAS PRELIMS 2021 EXAM ANALYSIS (10 October 2021)

IAS (UPSC CSE) Prelims, popularly known as UPSC Prelims 2021, was conducted on October 10, 2021. The UPSC IAS Prelims 2021 exam was conducted in two shifts for the two papers- from 9:30AM - 11:30 AM and 2:30PM - 4:30 PM. According to the candidates who appeared for the exam and the expert analysts, the Prelims GS Paper 1 was easy to moderate in difficulty. All the sections had questions from varying difficulty levels.

PAPER I GENERAL STUDIES  

The General Studies paper mostly consisted of questions from Polity. The questions were straightforward. The questions at the end of the paper were easy to attempt. Here's the overview of the paper:

MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS

1. The questions from the field of sports were asked more for the first time. (For exp, ICC World Test Championship, Summer Olympics 2020, etc.)
2. Economy questions were based on current trending topics like: RBI, Recession, Urban Cooperative Banks, Black Money, etc.
3. Fair number of questions were asked based on conceptual logic and were analytical.
4. History questions included mostly Art & Culture.

PAPER II CIVIL SERVICES APTITUDE TEST

UPSC IAS PRELIMS 2021 EXAM OVERVIEW

The UPSC IAS Prelims is the first stage of the prestigious Civil Services Examination. General Studies and CSAT are the two papers that make up the exam. The Civil Services Aptitude Test, or CSAT, is a qualifying exam. To qualify for the UPSC Mains Exam, candidates must obtain more than 33% or 66 points on the CSAT paper. 

1. The Prelims cut off marks is based on the score on the General Studies paper- paper 1. 
2. UPSC Prelims GS paper includes questions from a variety of areas, including history, politics, geography, economics, the environment, current events, and so on. 

UPSC IAS PRELIMS 2020 EXAM ANALYSIS (4 October)

UPSC conducted the Preliminary Examination for Indian Administrative Service through Civil Services Preliminary Examination on 4th October 2020. 

PAPER I GENERAL STUDIES

The General Studies paper consists of questions across topics like Current Affairs, Polity, History, etc. The maximum weightage was Geography. Mixed/overlapping questions were asked more. Overall, the General Studies Paper was Moderate to Difficult.

PAPER II CIVIL SERVICES APTITUDE TEST

CSAT paper is qualifying in nature, i.e. it is mandatory to score 33% marks in this paper. The score of this paper does not decide your merit ranking. Maximum Weightage was given to Comprehension & Basic Numeracy. Overall, CSAT paper was moderate.
