Maharana Pratap Singh was the thirteenth king of Mewar (modern-day Rajasthan). He is regarded as one of India's most successful kings. On May 9, 1540, he was born.
Rana And Mughal
Akbar desired to create a safe route to Gujarat via Mewar. As a result, he dispatched messengers to make Maharana Pratap Singh a vassal like other Rajputs. Rana declined. That is why the battle of Haldighati took place.
Haldighati Battle
Maharana is remembered for his valour in the battle of Haldighati. On June 18, 1576, the troops of Maharana and Akbar fought this battle. The Rana fought with 22,000 warriors against the Mughal army's 2 lakh soldiers. Man Singh commanded the Mughals. In this fight, Rana's army was defeated.
Reconquest
After six years, he defeated the Mughals in 1582. The Mughals were humiliated, and Akbar halted his military operations against Mewar. In addition, as Akbar focused on the North Western Front, the Rana seized possession of Udaipur, Gogunda, and Kumbhalgarh.
