The Consortium of NLUs has named Vijender Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the Maharashtra NLU, as its next Vice President. Several officers were recently elected at the Consortium of National Law Universities' (NLUs') annual general assembly.

A new executive committee was chosen during the meeting. Vijender Kumar, vice chancellor of the Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), was formally elected to serve as the next president of the Consortium of NLUs for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for the 2024 academic year.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Vijender Kumar will now administer the position of President of the Consortium of NLUs.  He took the place of Poonam Saxena, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Jodhpur NLU.

Annual Law Governing Body Meeting

A yearly meeting of the governing body was reportedly held in January 2023 at Diu under the chairmanship of Poonam Saxena, vice chancellor of NLU Jodhpur. According to a statement made by a representative, the Governing Body also elected a new Executive Committee at the meeting for the Consortium of NLUs, with Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, succeeding Poonam Saxena as President.

Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur, was appointed Vice President. During the CLAT 2023 exam, Vijender Kuma served as Vice President, and Shanthakumar, Director of the Gujarat National Law University in Gandhinagar, was elected Convenor for the CLAT 2024 exam.

CLAT Exam Details

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024 is a national-level entrance exam for admission to different law programmes at the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) levels. These professional courses are provided by 22 National Law Universities spread across India. The Consortium of National Law Universities was established on August 19, 2017, with the goal of facilitating better coordination among National Law Schools in order to achieve the highest standards of Legal Education throughout the country.
