Description

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) incubated firm has recently developed a mobile operating system that is in keeping with the Self-Reliant India Campaign. Furthermore, this project was launched in order to help the country's 100 crore mobile phone subscribers.

According to the most recent notification, the 'BharOS Service' seeks to create a fully secured digital environment for many users while also making a significant contribution to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' Mission. This digital service is now given to various organisations with stringent privacy and security standards, and whose users handle sensitive information that likely requires discreet interactions on restricted mobile apps. These users will require access to private cloud services via private 5G networks.

Benefits Of BharOS App

BharOS, an IITM-incubated firm product, enables easy access to web applications via organization-specific private app store services (PASS). A PASS is meant to provide the user with access to a curated selection of apps that have been reviewed and meet some organisational security and privacy standards.

This means that all users can have faith in these high-data apps because their installations are secure and people can rely on them completely. These apps have been tested for potential security flaws or privacy problems. According to reports, JandK Operations Private Limited (JandKops) built the BharOS application, which was incubated by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation.

The Foundation is supported by the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology (DST) as part of the national mission on interdisciplinary cyber-physical systems (NMICPS). Furthermore, the 'BharOS' has no default apps (NDA). It gives users some control over the rights that apps have on their devices, allowing them to pick which apps they trust to access certain functions or data on their devices.

The Director of IITM Madras, V Kamakoti, announced at a press conference on the Indian Mobile operating system that the newly launched BharOS Service is a Mobile Operating System built on a foundation of trust and focuses on providing users with the required amount of freedom, control, and flexibility to choose and use only the apps that fit their needs. Speaking at the event, Karthik Ayyar, Director of JandK Operations Pvt Ltd, stated that, in addition to BharOS, Native Over The Air (NOTA) will be provided, along with upgrades to help keep the devices secure. NOTA updates are downloaded and installed automatically on the device.
