Description

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) established the Digital India Awards to recognise and honour innovative digital solutions and exemplary initiatives by various government entities in the realm of digital governance. The awards seek to promote universal access to digital resources, anytime, anywhere access, and collaboration in participatory governance and digital literacy, all of which lead to increased ease of living.

This year, the awards were given out in several categories, with the winning teams receiving Platinum, Gold, and Silver awards. The following are the winners in each category-

Citizens' Digital Empowerment

  • Platinum: e-NAM, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare's flagship initiative
  • Gold: Transport Mission Mode Project (eTransport)
  • Silver: Portal for Judgment Search

Digital Initiatives at Grassroots Level

  • Platinum: e-Vivechna App (MP)
  • Gold: DeGS Computer Basic Training (Jharkhand)
  • Silver: Ksheerasree Portal (Kerala)

Digital Initiatives for Ease of Doing Business

  • Platinum: Mine Mitra (UP)
  • Gold: eAbkari (Odisha)
  • Silver: Invest Punjab

Data Sharing and Use for Socio Economic Development

  • Platinum: Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
  • Gold: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Silver: Center for e-governance (Karnataka)
  • Public Digital Platforms – Central Ministries, Departments and States

States

  • Platinum: DUARE SARKAR (West Bengal)
  • Gold: e-Services Manipur

Central Ministries, Departments

  • Platinum: ICEGATE Portal
  • Gold: e-Shram

About e-NAM

e-NAM is a digital platform that connects 1,260 APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) mandis in 22 states and three union territories to enable online trading of 203 agriculture and horticulture commodities. The platform's goal is to help farmers get better prices for their produce. e-NAM is accelerating the digital transformation of mandi operations and agricultural commodity e-trading. More than 1.74 crore farmers and 2.39 lakh traders had registered on the e-NAM portal as of December 31, 2022. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, 69 million metric tonnes of trade worth Rs 2.42 lakh crore were recorded on the e-NAM platform.

The Advantages of e-NAM

Farmers and other stakeholders benefit from e-NAM by having access to current commodity prices via a mobile app, a GPS-based feature that captures e-NAM mandis and mandi prices within a 100 km radius along with route maps, advance lot registration, SMS alerts on final bid prices of the lot and payment receipts, real-time competitive price bidding via e-NAM, weighment integration for accurate weight, and bidding progress available on mob.
