The CLAT results will not be accepted by the National Law University (NLU), Tripura for admission to the BA, LLB, and LLM programmes. The University was also removed from the candidate's list of NLU preferences.NLU has informed the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) that it will not participate in the academic counselling procedure for the academic year 2023-24.

According to the official notification, “The National Law University, Tripura (NLU, Tripura) has informed the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) that it shall not participate in the Admissions Counselling Process for Academic Year 2023-24. All candidates participating in the Admissions Counselling Process for the Common Law Admission Test, 2023 are hereby informed that NLU, Tripura shall be removed from the preferences indicated by candidates.”

The university had planned to begin the admissions process this year, however, it cancelled the BA, LLB, and LLM admissions for the academic year 2022-23 due to state domicile quotas just a few days before classes began.

Previously, NLU Tripura offered 150 seats to CLAT candidates for its 5-year LLB programme, and 50 seats for the LLM programme, both of which were included on the List of NLUs Accepting CLAT Scores.

Current Status Of NLUs

Following the departure of NLU Tripura, there are currently 23 NLUs, including the newly founded GNLU Silvasa, which has agreed to recognise the scores of the recently held CLAT 2023. However, the consortium has begun admissions counselling for national law universities. Shortlisted candidates can finish the registration process by January 12, 2023.
