Devotees can see a first that starts at the start of Tritiya and finishes at the end of Tritiya. The first will take place throughout the day and will begin with a holy bath taken before sunrise. Before worshipping and praying to Lord Vishnu, devotees should dress in fresh and clean Pooja clothing. To worship Lord Vishnu, devotees should offer sandalwood, Tulsi leaves, Kumkum, flowers, incense sticks, and sweets. During their fast, devotees are only allowed to consume satvik food or milk products.
According to the Hindu calendar, Parshuram Jayanti happens on the third day of Shukla paksha in Baisakh, while according to the Gregorian calendar, Parshuram Jayanti occurs in April or May. In various regions of the country, Parshuram Jayanti is also known as Akshaya Tritiya. It commemorates the birth of Lord Parshuram, Lord Vishnu's sixth incarnation. Lord Parshuram is the axe-wielding incarnation of Lord Rama who came to earth to redeem the world from the brutality of the Kshatriyas. Parshuram Jayanti takes place on May 3rd, 2022, and runs from 5:18 a.m. until 7:32 a.m. on May 4th, 2022.
What is the significance of Parshuram Jayanti?
Parshuram is said to have been born during the Pradosh Kala, so the day the Tritiya begins during the Pradosh Kala is known as Parshuram Jayanti. Lord Parshuram's mission on earth was to free the world from the load of excessive destructive and irreligious actions brought on by the neglect of rulers in various locations. According to the Kalika Puranas, Parshuram is the martial Guru of Shri Kalika, who was Lord Vishnu's tenth and last avatar. Parshuram also appeared at Lord Rama and Sita's engagement ceremony, where he met Lord Vishnu's 7th Avatar.
