DBT Program Information

The Indian government initiated this project on January 1, 2013, to overhaul the government's delivery system. The goal of this programme is to make it easier and faster for cash and information to reach people across the country.

The DBT Program's Goal

The Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) program's goal is to make the subsidies that are distributed to beneficiaries across the country through their bank accounts more transparent. It also seeks to decrease delivery system fraud.

The total number of DBT transfers made across the country

In 2019-20, there were 70.6 crore beneficiaries for cash-based DBTs and 74.1 crore beneficiaries for kind-based DBTs. The cash-based DBTs for 2020-21 were 98 crores, while the kind-based DBTs were 81.9 crores.

The Central Plan Scheme Monitoring System (CPSMS)

The Controller General of Accounts office is in charge of implementing the CPSMS. Its objective is to provide a centralised platform for the routing of Direct Benefit Transfers. The beneficiary list may also be produced with the use of the CPSMS, digitally signing, and processing payments in the beneficiary's bank accounts using the Aadhaar Payment Bridge.
