The fourth of March is designated as National Safety Day. This day strives to increase awareness about all safety standards, including those in the workplace, on the road, the environment, and health.
Overview
On this day, numerous programmes are held to educate people about the legislation and procedures put in place to promote a safe environment. This day also attempts to promote a proactive approach to safety and ways for spotting workplace risks and dangers. The topic of National Safety Day 2022 is "Nurture young minds - establish a safety culture."
The day's history
The National Safety Council was founded on March 4, 1966, with the goal of developing, generating, and sustaining a voluntary movement in the areas of safety, health, and the environment (SHE). After six years, on the National Safety Council's founding day in 1972, the National Safety Day was observed.
The National Safety Council is India's major, self-financing, non-profit, tripartite apex organisation. It was founded as an autonomous organisation by the Ministry of Labour. This organization's aim is to help society by fostering a scientific attitude, preventative culture, and systematic approach to SHE challenges. The organisation thinks that these are fundamental humanitarian concerns, and that resolving them is made easier if the link between productivity and quality is clearly illustrated. Its headquarters are located in Navi Mumbai.
