Description

Overview

The awards will be given to recognise best practises such as innovative approaches, achievement of planned objectives, the use of sustainability principles in design, planning, and operations, the ability to attract private investments in peripheral development, efficient project monitoring, and efforts undertaken to ensure optimal operations and maintenance, among others. The UT administrations and state governments have been instructed to submit their submissions online.

Concerning the Categories

The Ministry has agreed to accept entries in many categories, including Best Log Hut Facility, Best Tourist Interpretation Centre, Best Cafeteria, Best MICE Facility, Best Sound and Light Show, Best Craft Haat/ Souvenir Shop Facility, and Best Waterfront Development (Beach/ River/ Lake, etc.).

Concerning the Swadesh Darshan Scheme

Swadesh Darshan is a Central Sector Scheme that was launched in 2014-15. It was founded with the intention of creating theme-based tourism circuits across India. Under this plan, the Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to state governments and union territory administrations for the construction of circuit infrastructure.

Coastal Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Eco Circuit, Desert Circuit, Himalayan Circuit, Heritage Circuit, North East Circuit, Krishna Circuit, Rural Circuit, Ramayana Circuit, Sufi Circuit, Spiritual Circuit, Tribal Circuit, Tirthankar Circuit, Wildlife Circuit are the fifteen thematic circuits identified under this scheme.

Under this initiative, the government has sanctioned 76 projects totaling over Rs 5500 crore across 31 Indian states and union territories. Tourism infrastructure has been constructed in over 500 tourist attractions.
