On February 14, 2022, the National Health Authority (NHA) began an initiative to combine beneficiary databases from various schemes in order to upgrade its own database in order to better operate programmes.
Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)
The Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) offers health insurance worth up to Rs 5 lakh per household each year. Secondary and tertiary care hospitalizations are covered by insurance.
The plan has identified 10.74 crore eligible families from the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) on the basis of 6 deprivation and 11 occupational criteria in rural and urban regions, respectively.
The majority of SECC 2011 recipients are also eligible for benefits through the National Food Security Portal (NFSA).
Integration of several databases with NFSA
The NHA is attempting to integrate the SECC 2011 beneficiary database with the NFSA. Beneficiaries will be able to use their ration card number to obtain information about their entitlement under AB PM-JAY.
It is also working on a plan to employ Ration Shops or Fair Price Shops to provide qualified recipients with information about the system as well as eligibility under the scheme. Beneficiaries will have an extra option for card production, in addition to the existing UTI-ITSL, Common Service Centre, and so on. It will also make the process of identifying beneficiaries much easier.
How are caste census databases going to be integrated?
According to the Health Ministry, Aadhaar is a universal identification that is recognised by the vast majority of government databases. It will make it possible to integrate caste census datasets. Aadhaar also provides confidence in beneficiary identification through e-KYC. E-KYC offers target-based paperless service delivery.
National Health Service (NHA)
The National Health Agency is in charge of carrying out the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). It was established to carry out PM-JAY at the national level. It is the replacement for the National Health Agency. In January 2019, the National Health Agency was renamed the National Health Authority.
