On Monday, 20 September, students from Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce inaugurated an oxygen plant with a capacity of 280 litres per minute at the Commonwealth Games village here. The SRCC students claimed to have raised Rs 35 lakh for the plant in just 10 days thanks to an online fundraiser.
In April-May, Delhi faced a brutal second wave of the pandemic, during which a large number of lives were lost, with a lack of beds and oxygen compounding people's woes. The Delhi government has converted the Commonwealth Games Centre into a 500-bed Covid care facility. Vijay Goel, an SRCC alumnus and BJP leader, attended the event.
He expressed joy and pride in being an alumnus of an institution like SRCC, where students have always been at the forefront of helping the community. He praised the efforts of the college teachers, authorities, and 'Doctors For You,' who collaborated on the initiative, for playing an important role in the campaign's success.
