The government of Bihar has decided to allow the reopening of schools and coaching classes in the state starting August 7, 2021. The state government plans to initially reopen high school schools, Class IX to XII, with strict COVID-19 compliance. and guidelines. Aside from this, the state government has also authorized regular stand-alone classes for colleges, universities, and even educational institutions with a maximum capacity of 50%. The decision was announced by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, on Twitter sent from his official account.

Schools for students in Class I to VIII from August 16, 2021

Regarding the school opening process, the state government has adopted a phased strategy to avoid overcrowding on campus and to ensure that the Board is adhering to good conduct in relation to COVID-19. As part of this process, high schools are being created. That is, classes 9-12 will be open from August 7th. Following this, the state government also plans to open 8 grade schools for physical or autonomous classes from August 16, 2021 onwards. To ensure the safe reopening of schools, colleges and universities in the state, the Department of Health is expected to launch a vaccination campaign for adult students, teachers and educational staff.

Reopening with COVID-19 guidelines / protocols

With the number of COVID-19 cases falling rapidly across the state, the government of Nitish Kumar has decided to reopen schools in the state in stages. However, as the threat of a third wave of the pandemic is still looming, the opening of educational institutions is being carried out in full accordance with the guidelines and protocols of COVID-19. Some of the key measures announced to ensure this include:

• Opening with a maximum attendance of 50%

• Appropriate sensitization of the entire campus, including classrooms, staff rooms and common areas.

• Attendance is optional, students can continue with online classes.

• Only vaccinated students and staff are admitted to coaching sessions.

• Opening of the Kasturba Gandhi girls boarding school, the scheduled caste / tribal boarding school and Karpuri dormitories.
