Delhi youngster Vantika Agarwal has won the National women's online chess title, scoring 9.5 points from 11 rounds, defeating Arpita Mukherjee of West Bengal who scored 9 points and secured the second position. Tamil Nadu’s Sreeja Seshadri took the third spot, scoring 8.5 points in this competition. Meanwhile, Soumya Swaminathan of Maharastra and R Vaishali of Tamil Nadu finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The tournament featured former champions Bhakti Kulkarni, Padmini Rout, and Tania Sachdev as well as seasoned names like Mary Ann Gomes, Soumya Swaminathan, and Esha Karavade, but the young Vantika Agarwal surprised everyone and won.
Junior Open Section
In the Junior Open section, Tamil Nadu’s VS Raahul won the first position with 9.5 points. International Master Bharath Subrahamaniam finished second with 9 points and Grandmaster P Iniyan who had recently represented the country at the World Cup finished third.
