“On average, they walk up to 15-20 km a day to patrol forests, facing the dangers of encountering wild animals or poachers.”

"as the 'frontline ambassador of forest heroes' in India' is" determined to support and highlight the people who are pillars of nature and wildlife conservation. "

Forest Field Staff

Among forest field personnel, foresters must patrol vast areas of often inhospitable terrain with minimal protection and equipment. Foresters have little or no access to emergency medical centers if serious accidents or illnesses occur while on duty. Frontline foresters are often members of local communities, which play an important role in fostering interactions between communities and conservation.

They form the basis for the conservation of wildlife in protected areas and protected forests.

Dr Dipankar Goes, Director of the Wildlife and Habitats Program, said: “We are grateful to Upasana Kamineni for her support and for highlighting the contributions of the forestry field staff.”

WWF-India is a conservation organization dedicated to protecting and preserving natural heritage and ecology, as well as building a healthy living planet for future generations. WWF-India is one of the leading conservation organizations in India, established as a charitable foundation in 1969.
