First, the Indian Navy participated in joint naval exercises with the European Union Naval Forces (EUNAVFOR) in the Gulf of Eden. In total, five warships from four naval forces took part in the exercises on June 18 and 19, 2021. India's stealth frigate INS Trikand participated in the two-day exercise, as it has already been deployed to the region as part of an anti-piracy operation.
According to a statement by the Indian Navy, other warships participating in the exercise included the Spanish Navy ship ESPS Navarra, the Italian Navy ship ITS Carabinere and two French Navy ships FS Surcouf and FS Tonnerre.

During the two-day naval exercises between the Indian Navy and the European Union Navy (EUNAFVOR), intensive naval operations were carried out at sea, including anti-submarine exercises and advanced air defense, tactical maneuvers, replenishment of interdict helicopters, amphibious operations, training of people for on board, search and rescue and other operations to ensure safety at sea.
The ships of the four powerful naval forces sought to improve their combat skills and their abilities as a unified force for the safety, peace and stability of the sea.
